How to set forwarding as a user on USIPCOM Hosted VoIP service.

User - How to Forward My Office Number to Another Number

Forwarding My Number to Another Number

Many of us are on the move and are rarely at our desks all the time.  If you don't want to miss that important call, you can easily set your number to follow you where you go.  There are many options for forwarding but we'll only cover a few here and save the more complex examples for another article.

If you are logged in as a User, you WILL NOT have the "User" tab on the top bar.
You WILL see the "Messages" tab

If your account is basically new, your default "Answering Rules" will look similar to this

You won't need to mess with the "Time Frames" if you're not forwarding on a schedule and just want to forward on conditions only.  Be default, when a call comes in, it will ring your extension only.  This example has the extension being 1500.  If no phone is attached to the extension (hardware or softphone) the call will go to voicemail.  To edit these conditions, hit the "edit" icon to the far right

This will open a modal and expose the default settings.

One of the simplest ways to forward from here is enter the forwarding number in the "Simultaneous ring" section and "Save" as show below

You can also use another extension here if you want one of your peers to get your calls.  The "Answer confirmation" can be used if you're forwarding to your cell phone.  If you check this box and save, you will hear your cell phone ring when you receive a forwarded call but you will be prompted to "Press 1 to accept this Call".  If you choose to not answer, you can just hang up the call and it will be delivered to your work voicemail.

Next to this field, you see a timer (clock icon).  This is default set to zero meaning when the call comes in, it immediately forwards to the destination you have in the field.  If you want to delay the call being delivered immediately, you can set this in increments of 5 seconds.  One ring is typically 4 to 5 seconds long, as a reference.

You will also notice there is a + sign next to this field.  This allows you to forward this call to multiple destinations, if needed.  It is highly recommended to select the "Answer confirmation" if using more than 1 number as a destination.

Hopefully, this will help you keep your customers in touch.  If you have more questions, please contact support@usipcom.com.
